Hadewijch (sometimes referred to as Hadewych, Hadewig, ... of Antwerp, was a 13th-century poet and mystic, Her writings include visions, prose letters and poetry.
Her letters suggest that she functioned as the head of a beguine lay religious house, but that she had experienced opposition that drove her to a wandering life.
Her writing demonstrates an expansive knowledge of the literature and theological treatises of several languages, including Latin and French, as well as French courtly poetry, in a period when studying was a luxury only exceptionally granted to women.

Hadewijch ‹hàadëueikℎ›. - Poetessa mistica fiamminga (fine sec.
These are the words of thirteenth-century poet and mystic Hadewijch of Antwerp:
The madness of love
is a blessed fate;
and if we understood this
we would seek no other:
it brings into unity
what was divided,
and this is the truth:
bitterness it makes sweet,
it makes the stranger a neighbor,
and what was lowly it raises on high.
Prayer;
Lord, train us to hear your voice. When it is time to grieve, help us to grieve. When it is time to rejoice, help us to rejoice. When we grow weary, be the strength in our weakness. And may your most beautiful and perfect will, not ours, be done. Amen.
Benediction;
May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you : wherever he may send you;
may he guide you through the wilderness : protect you through the storm;
may he bring you home rejoicing : at the wonders he has shown you;
may he bring you home rejoicing : once again into our doors.

è un destino benedetto;
e se abbiamo capito questo
non cercheremmo nessun altro:
porta in unità
ciò che era diviso,
e questa è la verità:
l'amarezza rende dolce,
rende lo straniero un vicino,
e ciò che era umile solleva in alto.
Preghiera;
Amen.
Benedizione;
Che la pace del Signore Cristo venga con te : ovunque Egli ti mandi;
che ti guidi attraverso il deserto : ti protegga attraverso la tempesta;
che ti porti a casa nella gioia : alle meraviglie che ti ha mostrato;
